Diplomas Now!

Chicago Talent is structured around Diplomas Now!, an innovative school model that unites three experienced non-profit organizations—Talent Development High Schools (a Johns Hopkins University program), Communities In Schools, and City Year, an Americorps program and a leader of the national service movement—to work with the nation’s middle and high schools to deliver the right interventions to the right students at the right time. McShan

The partnership combines evidence-based, comprehensive school improvement with an early warning system, national service, and integrated student services that are dedicated to helping students at-risk of dropping out get back on track and stay on track to high school graduation and be ready for college and career. To accomplish this, Diplomas Now! integrates four key elements:

1) Effective whole school reform
2) A teacher-friendly early warning system tied to research based prevention, intervention, and recovery strategies that get the right intervention to the right student at the right time
3) A second team of adults tightly integrated into the design and working closely with teachers and administrators to provide targeted and intensive supports at the needed intensity and scale
4) A team based organizational structure and collaborative work environment to make the job manageable.

We at Chicago Talent are proud to be the first high school in the city to utilize this innovative school model.
