Career Academies

Career Academies are self-contained small learning communities for students in grades 10 through 12. Each academy enrolls between 250 and 350 students.

Student Presenting

Chicago Talent operates two career academies for upper grades: the Health and Human Service Academy and the Media and Technology Academy. These academies provide similar academic supports as the Ninth Grade Success Academy, but also offer an array of elective opportunities, and a specific career-oriented focus.

All students enroll in at least four career-focused elective courses designed to expose students to various career experiences, develop career-related skills and knowledge, and emphasize connections between career experiences and academic skills. The specific career emphasis for the career academies will be determined by student, community, and staff interests, and will include off-site career experiences for all students. Though the career focus certainly does not lock students into a choice for future education and work, it does add relevance to the high school curriculum and appeal to students’ interests.
